What this is

An Open Graph image is the picture a link shows when it is shared on X, LinkedIn, Slack, iMessage or Discord. The platforms read it from the og:image meta tag on your page. Most sites either skip it or reuse one static logo for every page, which is why so many shared links look the same.

This tool renders the built-in card design of the Image APIs: site name and logo at the top, an optional tag, the title in a large face that shrinks until it fits three lines, a description, a photo on the right if you give one, and an accent bar. The render is a real PNG at a hosted URL that stays up for 30 days.

Doing it for every page

With a free key, the same card comes from one request to POST /v1/og, or from a signed URL you build in your own templates so each page renders its card on the first fetch:

<meta property="og:image"
      content="https://img.imageapis.com/s/sb_…/og.png?title=How+we+cut+our+build+times&site=example.com&sig=…">

The signed URLs guide shows the four lines of code that make the signature, and the Next.js guide wires it into generateMetadata.
